Chollada Phinitduang (b.1990) is a Thai-Norwegian dance artist, performance artist, and choreographer whose work centers on the exploration of identity, cultural hybridity, and the emotional landscapes of human relationships. Born in Thailand and raised in Norway, Chollada weaves Eastern and Western cultural influences into her conceptually driven work, examining how social, emotional, and cultural power structures shape our sense of self, belonging, and resilience.

Her practice is rooted in interdisciplinary collaboration and spans dance, performance art, poetry, textile art, and video. Integrating mediums such as film, photography, live music, and architecture, she expands the boundaries of movement and the body, continuously evolving her work to deepen its physical and sensory impact, drawing audiences into an experience that is both tactile and emotionally resonant.

In her choreography, Chollada explores the concept of the hybrid body through movements that fuse diverse cultural styles, fluid forms that transcend gender norms, and symbolic gestures that blend the natural and the artificial. This approach opens up rich possibilities for expressing complexity, adaptability, and the evolving nature of identity through physical movement. Her work embodies an exploration of humanity, questioning how we live, adapt, and experience life collectively.

A central element of Chollada’s work is the interplay between physical endurance and slowness, influenced by her two-year tour with Marina Abramovic’s The Cleaner exhibitions. This experience deeply shaped her approach to energy dynamics, audience engagement, and durational presence. Inspired by Abramovic, she incorporates slowness, repetition, and resilience into her performances, creating powerful, immersive experiences that delve into time, emotional presence, and human connection. Balancing explosiveness with subtlety, she embraces gender neutrality in movement, transcending conventional gender norms to create universally resonant experiences. Drawing from her personal experience of a hybrid identity, Chollada navigates a fluid “third space” that merges cultural expressions from both regions, inviting audiences to explore movement in transformative ways.

Currently, Chollada is focused on her own productions, working with artists across various disciplines, including musicians Andreas Lanesjord (NO) and Lars Andreas Nilssen (NO), film and visual artist Aleksander Johan Andreassen (NO), architect Pål Luis Sanchez (NO/PE), and dancer Thomas Rohe (DE). She is also part of Rom for Dans, performing in Maur (ANTS), a production for Norway’s Cultural Schoolbag program, as well as touring public spaces and children’s festivals.

Chollada’s work has been presented nationally and internationally, both through collaborations and solo projects, at venues and festivals including Malmö Art Museum (SE), Redan Galleri (SE), Roskilde Festival (DK), Flutgraben e.V. (Berlin), Gamle Munch Museum (NO), Ælvaspeilet (NO), Franje Festival (NO), Copenhagen Art Run (DK), Barnas Ultima, Sentralen (NO), Louisiana Museum (DK), Henie Onstad Kunstsenter (NO), Bundeskunsthalle (GE), Palazzo Strozzi (IT), Aral Sea (UZ), Corner Teater (NO), and Kunsthallen i Grenland (NO).
